BENEVOLENT FUND
We are here to help you with a kindly helping hand in times of financial difficulties.
It can be difficult to ask for help: the Trustees of the Benevolent Fund understand that and there is no need to be concerned. A lot of people suffer misfortune of some kind; unemployment, sickness, lack of income from their own business, decisions that have gone wrong, sudden unforeseen expenses. You are not alone.
Every Catenian, when he enrols, promises never to fail to aid a brother in difficulty or need. That happens in many small ways in our Circles and includes help to the families of brothers, including deceased brothers. You could say that the Benevolent Fund is the business end of that concern, getting involved when financial assistance is needed.
All benevolent cases are treated as strictly confidential to the members of the Circle Benevolent Boards concerned and members and staff of the Managing Trustees. No one else is made aware of the circumstances of an applicant or even the fact that assistance has been sought. The standard procedure is that a Brother or the Widow or dependent of the deceased Brother who is in need approaches their Circle Benevolent Board.
