PERTH GROUP – MEETING 24 SEPTEMBER 2026
The recent meeting of the Perth Group was held at 6.30pm on Thursday the 24 September in their usual location in the under croft of St Paul’s church in Menora. Mass celebrated at 5.45pm in the church is an option and most Brothers do attend, when they can.
The meeting commenced with Brother Dean Lomma as the Chairman welcoming all the Group Brothers, visiting three Brothers being Vern Scanlan, Brian Webb and Lou Daily and two guests being Gareth and Philip and then saying the usual prayers. Following this, reports were accepted as read and several matters for discussion were raised. An important milestone for the Perth Group is their forthcoming third anniversary being on the 13 October. Brother Rienzie proposed several options and once these are finalised, all will be advised. Also acknowledged was the recent enrolment of a new Brother being Justin Massam.
Following others business, the formal part of the meeting was closed and the food was served. Although the food is provided from local shops, a wide range is provided, along with deserts and drinks. Brothers and guests, during their meal, spoke of their lives, dreams and especially how they greatly enjoyed the fellowship and support that is so obvious throughout the Group.
Lou Daily, as a visiting Brother, was then invited to tell the audience about his recent trip being part of the Australian Council executive to Adelaide and Melbourne. Lou spoke of the Catholic Man Series that Brothers Harry Muller, Geoff Young himself attended at St Annes Parish in Elizabeth on the 3 September. How the theme of the talk and the growing audience of young Catholic men gave him hope with the increased interest and commitment to the Catholic faith by younger men in particular. Then, how the trio visited Penola being the location of the school that our Patron saint, Mary MacKillop of the Cross taught at in her early years.
Finally, then he advised regarding the growth and commitment of younger Catholic fathers in the recent Stonnington Group in Melbourne. Overall, Lou advised that he was pleased and praised the obvious growing support and dedication to the Catholic faith by men with the growth of the Catenian association in Australia.
We thanked Lou for his talk, and the night was concluded with the reading of last week’s gospel, assessment of the meaning and finally with a shared song.
