Truthful Jones – believe it or not?
About 24 brothers, including 4 contestants from Province 21 Circles Harbourside North, Hornsby, KuRing Gai and Pittwater, gathered at Hornsby Circle on 6th November to compete in the Annual Truthful Jones Cup.
Plausible stories where told by die hard bibliophile Peter Quinn, of Hornsby, on his rescuing books from a rubbish skip, Tony Cox, of Pittwater, on being a lumber jack, Roland McGready ,of Harbourside North, on an impromptu public singalong with Phil Collins and Don Johnson, plus Patrick Raper, of KuRingGai, on the mighty rise and fall of the World’s first travel company.
Hornsby Circle’s President Ken Daniels wielded the time bell.
The three judges, Province 21 President, Malcolm McEwen, Director Geoff Young and Treasurer Paul Day, congratulated contestants on their entertainingĀ talks, with the scores so close the result was decided on time penalties, and the Cup awarded to Tony Cox.
Moral of the story, don’t be long-winded.
