Otis Harvey (Grandson of Peter Johnston) debut for WAFL team Swan Districts.
Shannon and Joanne Harvey (Catenian Brother Peter Johnston and his wife Maree’s son-in-law and daughter) are the proud parents of 19 year-old Otis Harvey who made his league football debut with the WAFL Swan Districts club on Saturday the 7th of May 2025. Playing in the midfield (centre), Otis performed exceptionally well in his first game with 14 possessions, nine tackles and scoring two goals for the victorious Swan’s against Subiaco Football Club; the Swans first win for the 2025 season.
Otis represented Western Australia in the State Under 16’s and Under 18’s and Guildford Grammar School and Hale in the elite PSA competition. After graduating from Hale he played Colts (under 19’s) for Swan Districts in the 2024 season, winning the club’s fairest and best award and playing in the Colts Grand Final at Optus Oval in September won by Claremont.
Otis played in the WAFL Reserves competition for Swan District’s first five unbeaten games in 2025 averaging 27 possessions per game, the best in the whole WAFL Reserves competition in possessions, handballs and tackles.
He was rewarded for this outstanding start to the year with promotion to the league side as a midfielder for the televised night game against Subiaco on the 7th of May, which Swans won comfortably – the first win of its season.
Otis can, perhaps, attribute his football skill’s back to Subiaco and Western Australian State centre-half-back of the 1940’s, Bill Alderman (deceased). Bill is the great-grandfather of Otis.
